Designing an annual report for IPPF's evolving brand

The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) approached us to design their 2023 Annual Report, reflecting their purpose, drive, and ambition. Our task included creating the front section of the report, designing introductory financial pages, and incorporating IPPF's financial tables. This project was part of IPPF’s brand transition, aiming to align the report with their evolving brand identity while maintaining a serious and impactful tone.

Responding to the brief

We began by presenting two front cover layout options and two double-page spreads to showcase our design direction, ensuring alignment with IPPF's expectations. To enhance the report's structure and readability, we introduced section pages that clearly defined each topic, improving the reading experience and ensuring a smooth flow of information.

We used five core colours, Poppins font, and dynamic, high-resolution images. The tone was bold and activist, with iconography depicting key services.

IPPF provided a rich selection of photos, which we supplemented with a few stock images. Round graphic devices framed photos and highlighted pull-out quotes, ensuring key details stood out, and the iconography style supported key stats and narratives.

Key graphics included mission pillars, a global map, and an impact table, reinforcing IPPF's mission and impact.

In the financial section, we laid out the design of the introductory financial pages, and incorporated a PDF of IPPF's signed off financials.

The Final Report

After finalising the design of the annual report, we arranged printing for IPPF. The perfect bound copies were visually appealing and engaging.

The IPPF Annual Report 2023 successfully reflects the organisation’s brand transition, emphasising their mission and impact. The positive feedback and continued collaboration for future assets highlight the success of this project. We are excited to continue supporting IPPF in their advocacy for sexual and reproductive health and rights worldwide.
